2012 Runners Race Guide

Leeds 10K race guide

A typical race day

07:30
There are two assembly areas for participants in the Leeds 10k:

Green Assembly Area – outside the Town Hall
Red Assembly Area – on Millennium Square

You will be allocated into an assembly area prior to the event and the colour of your race number will determine where you should assemble.

Each area will include a baggage deposit for you to leave your bag during the event, which will be open from 07:30. Please note that all baggage is left at the owners risk.

Toilets will also be available in each Assembly Area, as well as on Victoria Gardens for spectators to use. Please refer to the site map in your Runner Guide for the locations of these facilities.

Millennium Square will be split into three sections – Runners, Joggers and Walkers. You should ensure that you are in the correct area for how you intend to participate in the event. We kindly ask that anyone who is intending to jog or walk head to the areas closest to the Hospital side of the Millennium Square to ensure that those wishing to run the event (often attempting a personal best) can do so without being held up in crowds.

08:15
At 08:15 there will be a warm up in Millennium Square, for all participants in this area.

08:30
Participants will be guided to the start from their respective Assembly Areas by Marshals. You should not attempt to make your way to the start before being told to do so.

09:00
The start will be on The Headrow next to Victoria Gardens, outside the Henry Moore Institute.

Post race

There are a number of bars and cafes on Millennium Square as well as in the City Centre that will be sure to welcome participants, and are often bursting with atmosphere from the event afterwards.
