Run For All launch its exciting new partnership with Asda Foundation
Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All has launched its exciting new partnership with Asda Foundation and welcomed Paralympic hopeful Hannah Cockcroft as a new patron.
The launch of the Asda Foundation as Run For All’s lead charity kicked off at Asda House, where colleagues were introduced to the cause and inspired to take on the challenge by Judith McKenna, Asda Chief Operating Officer.
She was joined by Mike Tomlinson, of Run For All, and Paralympic hopeful Hannah Cockcroft - who was announced as the charity’s newest patron on the day – in rousing colleagues and charity partners in a mass warm up at Asda House and in Millennium Square.
As the lead sponsor of the 10K series, the Asda Foundation will support the 22,000 plus runners taking part in the Hull, Leeds and York 10Ks and Judith McKenna urged the colleagues across the firm to sign up.
She said: “Asda Foundation are delighted and honoured to be involved in supporting the Run For All series.
“Looking back at Jane Tomlinson’s life and her incredible achievements, you really can’t help but be inspired. It does bring a lump to your throat, but it is all about celebrating the things people can do and I would urge everyone to get involved and just give it a go.”
The launch also introduced the Run For Gold campaign, with Hannah Cockcroft at the helm. Double World Champion wheelchair athlete Hannah Cockcroft, 19, got her first racing chair thanks to the fundraising efforts of friends and family in 2007.
Hannah, who won the Leeds 10K wheelchair event in 2008 and 2009, is also hoping to take part in next year’s race on July 8th - the day before she finds out if she has made the 2012 GB Paralympic team.
Hannah, who is 19 and from Halifax, has also just become a patron of Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
She said: “The efforts of my little brother’s rugby team and all their parents in the Leeds 10K four years ago were fantastically important to me. I would not have had my racing wheelchair if it wasn’t for them.
“Finishing a 10K gives you a phenomenal feeling, but to know you are raising money for good causes just makes you feel so good for having done it.”
As sport takes centre stage in 2012, Run For All and the Foundation are launching the Run For Gold campaign where they will be encouraging members of the public to take on a challenge and achieve their own personal gold next summer. Whether that gold is achieved through completing a personal best, raising the most amount of money for charity or completing a 10K for the first time, 2012 is the year for everyone to get involved and create a true Run For All.
Entrants can choose to tackle just one 10K for £20.12* or take on the triple by signing up to the Yorkshire Season Ticket, all three runs for just £50*.
